Sworn translation in German

From €45 + VAT per document

At Ampersand we have a team of translators who can produce sworn translations from and into German. They are native speakers of the target language, have a mastery of the language of origin and are authorised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation (MAEC). Additionally, in order to work with us they must (among other requirements) have at least five years of proven experience in the document’s area of specialisation, complete a stringent internal training process, and ensure strict compliance with the quality and confidentiality processes that have made Ampersand one of the most well-established agencies in Barcelona, with a portfolio of more than 2,000 clients and 40,000 projects.

Official translations that are fully valid in the destination country

In countries where Spanish is not an official language, most official procedures require a sworn translation of the documents that are to be submitted. For countries where German is an official language (e.g. Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Liechtenstein), documents originally written in Spanish must be translated by a MAEC-approved native German translator, so that the translation will have the same validity as the original document in the eyes of the authorities. The same applies to documents that were originally written in German and need to be submitted in Spain: they must be translated by a MAEC-approved translator who can certify that the translation is an accurate and faithful representation of the original document.

Ampersand: an agency specialising in sworn translation in German

On its website, the MAEC maintains a public list of sworn translators for German, along with their contact details, and updates it every year. At present, there are more than 1,000 approved translators. Consequently, if you are not already familiar with a translator’s work, it can be difficult to know which one to choose, and you will not have the added security of knowing that your translation is backed by a specialist agency like Ampersand. We guarantee that our translators are not only MAEC-approved, but also fulfil a series of additional requirements:

At least five years of experience in the sector related to the document that is to be translated, e.g. postgraduate study or additional professional experience, in order to guarantee that they have specialist knowledge of the relevant terminology. Simply passing the translation exam set by the MAEC’s Language Interpretation Office does not guarantee that a translator has this knowledge.

Exhaustive knowledge of the culture and legal procedures of the countries of origin and destination, which ensures that the translator understands the document in its entirety and the procedure for which it is required. This understanding will enhance the quality of the translation, and cannot always be guaranteed by freelance translators or online translation agencies.

Incorporation of Ampersand’s tried and tested methodology and structure, in order to be able to adapt to larger projects, guarantee the quality of their translations, ensure diligent compliance with deadlines, meet the strictest confidentiality requirements (including the signing of confidentiality agreements), utilise specific glossaries and translation memories, and more.
