Catalan translators in Spain

Catalan is spoken, in various forms, in Catalonia, Andorra, Valencia and the Balearic Islands, as well as in Roussillon, La Franja de Ponent (an area on the border between Catalonia and Aragon) and Alghero, Sardinia. It is recognised as an official language in Catalonia, Andorra, the Valencian Community and the Balearic Islands. It is spoken by nine million people.

At Ampersand, we work with professional translators who are native speakers of Catalan, hold a degree in translation and interpreting, have been trained by Ampersand, have extensive experience, and translate from various languages into Catalan. Our Catalan translators are holders of the certificate issued by the department of Linguistic Policy at the Generalitat de Catalunya accrediting advanced knowledge of the language (level K) as proof that the holder is capable of editing texts in Catalan. This certificate is now no longer issued and it is considered equivalent to holding a master’s in copy editing and text correction.

Likewise, we collaborate with professional translators who are native speakers of the translation’s target language, hold a degree in translation and interpreting (or similar qualifications, depending on their country of origin), have been trained by Ampersand, have extensive experience, and translate from Catalan into their native language.
