Serbo-Croat

Serbo-Croat is the language spoken in ex-Yugoslav republics like Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Montenegro and Serbia, even though in these countries the language is known by its regional name, i.e. Bosnian, Croatian, Montenegrin, Serbian. Indeed, there are some experts who consider these to be autonomous languages. There are estimated to be around 17 million speakers of Serbo-Croat.

Uses of Serbo-Croat

Even though the Serbo-Croat market is not very extensive, it’s important to offer products labelled in Serbo-Croat or services in this language to give the company or brand a friendlier image and to inspire empathy in the Serbo-Croat-speaking public.

Linguistic quality

If you present a document written in a particular language, you want it to be accurate in terms of grammar, syntax and language use, but you also want it to sound natural and fluent to the reader. So, even if the text is already in the right language, it should be revised (or in our jargon: proofread) to ensure a high-quality result. Texts written in other languages and that need to be translated into Serbo-Croat should also be reviewed to ensure they meet the linguistic criteria of the target language.

This requires the services of language professionals with the right qualifications: with degrees in translation, or with demonstrable experience... there’s more than one way to do it. For Serbo-Croat, the best approach is to find professionals who are native speakers of this language.
