Finnish

Finnish is the language spoken in Finland. There are estimated to be around five million speakers of Finnish. There are also small Finnish-speaking communities in Sweden, Norway, Estonia and Russia, the United States, Canada and Australia.

Uses of Finnish

Even though the Finnish market is not very extensive, it’s important to offer products labelled in Finnish or services in this language to give the company or brand a friendlier image and to inspire empathy in the Finnish-speaking public.

Linguistic quality

If you present a document written in a particular language, you want it to be accurate in terms of grammar, syntax and language use, but you also want it to sound natural and fluent to the reader. So, even if the text is already in the right language, it should be revised (or in our jargon: proofread) to ensure a high-quality result. Texts written in other languages and that need to be translated into Finnish should also be reviewed to ensure they meet the linguistic criteria of the target language.

This requires the services of language professionals with the right qualifications: with degrees in translation, or with demonstrable experience... there’s more than one way to do it. For Finnish, the best approach is to find professionals who are native speakers of this language.
